Yvonne M. Perez-Zarraga

Professional Experience

For over 15 years, Yvonne has engaged in a broad, sophisticated trusts and estates practice representing moderate and high net worth individuals in connection with estate and tax planning, estate and trust administration, and estate-related litigation.  Having begun her career in the Trusts and Estates department at Katten Muchin Rosenman, one of the premier practices in New York City, she then honed her skills as part of Proskauer's Private Client Services group before opening her own practice in 2011.

By developing and implementing advanced estate plans, Yvonne addresses her clients’ goals of determining the best structures for the distribution of their assets at death and maximizing their wealth for future generations using tax effective strategies. She also counsels clients with regard to all aspects of trust and estate administration, including navigating the probate process in the Surrogate’s Court, filing necessary federal and state tax returns, and representing clients in estate tax audits. In addition, Yvonne has advised clients with regard to charitable giving and the rules related to tax-exempt organizations, including the formation of private foundations and public charities and application for tax-exempt status. Yvonne has been involved in numerous estate and trust litigation matters before the New York Surrogate’s Courts, including, but not limited to, probate contests, guardianship proceedings and actions by and against fiduciaries of estates or trusts.

Yvonne is admitted to practice in New York and Massachusetts, as well as in the Southern District of New York and the United States Tax Court.  She is fluent in Spanish.
